This is a reversible pendant with a mouth on one side and a vagina dentata on the other—two designs in one. Vagina dentata is a myth found in many cultures (Hindu, Ainu, Shinto, and Māori legends) as cautionary tales warning of the dangers of unknown women and discouraging rape. To me, it’s a symbol of female empowerment, sexual freedom, and independence.
I make this pendant in sterling silver and bronze. The silver one comes with an adjustable silver plated chain, the bronze one comes with an adjustable brass chain.
